service + facility fees: typically 10-15%
tour t-shirts run 35-45
1 = face value: inflated resale sites run 2-5
Booking fees add 10-15%+ to the advertised price at checkout (service fee + facility fee + delivery fee for an e-ticket: the anatomy of a GBP 65 ticket costing GBP 78): factor them BEFORE the countdown timer pressures you. Resale: face-value exchange platforms (and the primary seller's own resale) are the safe channel: the inflated-resale sites charge 2-5x + their own fees, and many tours now CANCEL tickets resold above face: the bargain that won't scan is the worst seat in the house. Sold-out shows: returns drop on the primary site in the week before: set an alert, skip the touts.
What The Gig Tickets Calculator Works Out
- True night cost: tickets at face value, plus booking fees at about 13% of face, plus the travel, food, drinks and parking that routinely rival a ticket. Two GBP 65 tickets land near GBP 250 all-in once the night itself is counted.
- The fees anatomy: a service fee of around 10%, a facility or venue fee of GBP 2 to GBP 5 and a delivery charge for a QR code you print yourself. In-person box offices often skip most fees and some independent venues sell direct, but for arena tours you are captive.
- Resale rules that save you: the primary seller's own exchange and face-value platforms protect the next fan and actually scan. Above-face resale risks a cancelled ticket on top of a 2x to 5x markup. Pay by credit card for orders over GBP 100 so Section 75 covers cancellations and seller failure.
- Booking fees percentage (advanced): the 13% assumption made editable. Enter the real figure from the checkout page, which typically runs 10% to 15% for the big primary sellers and near zero at a venue box office.
- Per-order delivery or handling fee (advanced): a flat charge added once per order rather than per ticket, usually GBP 2 to GBP 4. Spreading it across more tickets lowers the per-ticket fee share shown in the fees card.
- Hotel or overnight stay (advanced): for out-of-town shows the room is often the single biggest line, so it is added to the night cost and the per-person figure.
- Merch per person (advanced): tour t-shirts run GBP 35 to GBP 45 at the venue table. Enter a per-head budget and it is multiplied by the ticket count.
- Per person and fees in total (advanced): the full cost divided by the number of tickets, and the fee stack shown as a cash figure and as a percentage over face value.
- If bought on resale (advanced): re-runs the whole night with tickets at your chosen multiple of face value (fees are charged on the inflated price too) and shows the premium over buying at face. A 3x ticket more than doubles a typical night.
- Annual gig spend (advanced): the night cost multiplied by the number of similar gigs you go to a year, with a monthly equivalent for budgeting.
