Assumes GBP 60/night accommodation, GBP 45/day food and drink, plus your travel and activity figures: the same maths covers hen dos identically. The etiquette minefield: announce the per-head price BEFORE people commit, collect deposits early (someone always drops out), and covering the groom's share is traditional but splits the resentment evenly. UK city weekends run GBP 250-400 a head: European ones GBP 400-600 once flights join in.
What The Stag Do Cost Calculator Works Out
- Cost per head: accommodation at GBP 60 a night plus GBP 45 a day of food and drink (a run rate no attendee has ever undershot), plus your travel and activities. Activities run GBP 50 to GBP 120 each for the staples: go-karting, clay shooting, the escape room, the brewery tour. The same maths covers hen dos identically.
- Don't forget the groom: covering his share is traditional. Split across nine mates it adds a ninth of a head each; settle it aloud in advance rather than leaving it to the generous three at checkout.
- Best man's admin: the real duties are financial. Price the weekend before anyone commits, collect deposits inside the first week, and expect "definitely in" to decay at a reliable one in four.
- Accommodation and food rates (advanced): change the GBP 60 and GBP 45 assumptions for a cottage split (often GBP 35 to GBP 50 a night), a city hotel (GBP 80 plus) or a destination where rounds cost half or double. The GBP 30 airfare headline is not the price of a weekend abroad.
- Paying attendees (advanced): the number of people splitting the groom's share and the group booking. A bigger group makes the groom cheaper and the house booking riskier.
- Kitty and buffer (advanced): the taxis, rounds and forgotten extras that end weekends otherwise. GBP 20 to GBP 50 a head in a kitty held by the best man avoids the bar-tab arguments.
- All-in per head and whole group total (advanced): own costs plus the groom's share plus kitty, which is the single number to announce; and the total the organiser is actually handling, with how much of it is the accommodation booking.
- Deposit to collect (advanced): a percentage of the all-in figure per head, checked against the accommodation booking it needs to cover. Split-payment apps have civilised group money; use one.
- If the dropouts happen (advanced): the group house and the groom's share are fixed and re-split among those left while travel, food and activities fall away with the leaver, so the card shows what each remaining person pays. Non-refundable deposits are the defence. UK city weekends land at GBP 250 to GBP 400 a head and the Amsterdam-Prague-Benidorm tier GBP 400 to GBP 600 once flights join.
