Advanced options
weekday slots: 20-30% off
group packages: 80-150 a lane for the session
2-4 throw comfortably: 6 rotating
Axe throwing is priced as premium urban leisure (GBP 20-30/hour vs bowling's GBP 7/game) because the lane, the coach and the novelty ARE the product: everyone hits the board within 20 minutes under instruction: the skill curve is fast, satisfying and shallow: which makes it a superb one-off and a strange hobby. Lanes take 2-4 throwers comfortably: bigger groups rotate: and despite the aesthetic, most venues are strict + sober-run: drinks AFTER throwing, closed shoes, coached lanes only.
What The Axe Throwing Calculator Works Out
- Total: throwers multiplied by the session price (about GBP 20 for an hour, GBP 28 for 90 minutes) plus the drinks or food afterwards. It is priced as premium urban leisure because the coached lane and the novelty are the product.
- What the session is: a safety briefing, technique coaching (rotation, not force), then coach-run games and tournaments. Everyone sticks an axe inside 20 minutes, 90 minutes suits groups of four or more, and minimum ages run 10 to 18 by venue.
- Value notes: weekday slots run 20% to 30% off, group packages price per lane so filling one lane beats half-filling two, and against the same night out it is dearer than bowling, level with escape rooms and cheaper than karting.
- Quoted price per person (advanced): replaces the preset with the real figure from the venue's booking page.
- Off-peak discount (advanced): the percentage saved on a weekday or daytime slot, applied to every thrower or to the lane price. The saving card shows the cash difference per visit and per year.
- Travel and parking (advanced): axe venues are mostly city-centre, so fares or parking often add GBP 5 to GBP 15 to the night. Added to the total and the per-head figure.
- Lane hire and throwers per lane (advanced): many venues sell a whole lane for the session at GBP 80 to GBP 150 instead of per head. The calculator works out how many lanes your group needs at your chosen throwers per lane and automatically uses whichever pricing is cheaper, saying which it picked.
- Per hour of throwing each (advanced): the throwing cost per person divided by the session length, so a 60-minute and a 90-minute booking can be compared with other activities on a like-for-like basis.
- Annual spend (advanced): the night cost multiplied by visits per year, with the per-thrower share. Regulars who go more than monthly should look at the GBP 10 to GBP 15 a week leagues.
