- Estimated cost: the private price for the problem, with each extra room, nest or area priced at 60% of the first. Wasp nests run GBP 60-80, rat treatments GBP 150-220 across 2-3 visits, mice slightly under, bed bugs GBP 200-300 a room, ant and cockroach treatments about GBP 120 and loft squirrels from GBP 90.
- DIY vs pro line: ants, first-sign mice and early-season accessible wasp nests are reasonable DIY; rats, bed bugs, anything in cavities or lofts and any nest you cannot retreat from are professional jobs. Bees are not wasps: honeybee swarms are collected free by beekeepers.
- Free and prevention: many councils still treat rats and mice for GBP 0-80, so ring them before any private quote. Sealed bins, 6mm airbrick mesh, brush strips and trimmed vegetation are the cheap game, and October is when everything outdoors decides the loft looks warm.

- Extra follow-up visits (advanced): visits beyond those in the quoted course, for example a fourth rat visit or a re-check after proofing, at GBP 40-80 each. Bait-only firms sell these as a subscription; the quote that includes proofing sells the cure.

- Council service price (advanced): enter what your council quoted and the saving card compares it with the private treatment cost. Leave it at zero if you have not checked yet; the card will remind you to ring.
