How to use this percentage calculator
This tool covers the three calculations people need most often.
Use the first mode to find a percentage of an amount, such as working out a 15% tip or a 20% discount.
Use the second to express one number as a percentage of another, for example what proportion of a target you have reached.
Use the third to measure the percentage change between two figures, which is useful for tracking price rises, pay increases, or any before-and-after comparison.
Remember that a percentage is simply a way of expressing a part of a whole out of 100.
Percentage change is always calculated relative to the original (starting) value, which is why swapping the two numbers around gives a different result.
