Simple Scrabble Score Calculator For 2026

Advanced options

Standard English Scrabble values. Letter multiplier squares (double/triple letter) apply to one tile and are not included here: add them per letter. Blanks score zero. Using all seven tiles in one turn (a bingo) adds 50 points.

What The Scrabble Score Calculator Works Out

  • Score: the tile values added up, multiplied by any word square, plus the 50-point bingo for a word of seven or more letters. English Scrabble prices its 98 lettered tiles by scarcity: the one-point workhorses (vowels plus N, R, T, L, S) fill most racks, the mid-range consonants climb through 2, 3 and 4, and the four premium tiles, J and X at 8, Q and Z at 10, carry the drama. QUIZ scores 22 before touching a coloured square.
  • Letter breakdown: each tile's contribution so you can check a disputed total. A word covering two double-word squares quadruples; multiplier squares count only on the turn they are first covered.
  • Letter squares (advanced): enter which letter of the word sits on a double or triple letter square (counting from the first letter) and that tile is multiplied before the word multiplier is applied, exactly as the rules require. A Q on a triple letter inside a double word is a Q worth 60.
  • Blank tiles (advanced): list the positions played with a blank and they score zero, even on multiplier squares, though the blank declares a letter permanently. Competitive players hold the S and blank for bingos rather than spending them on a two-point plural.
  • Second word square (advanced): the rare plays spanning two word squares stack to x4 (two doubles) or x9 (two triples). OXYPHENBUTAZONE across three triple-word squares, 1,700-plus points, lives only in constructed puzzles, but 100-point real-game bingos are routine at club level.
  • Face value (advanced): the tile values alone, before any squares or bonus, which is also what the word costs you if it is left on your rack at the end: each player deducts their unplayed tiles and the player going out collects everyone else's, a swing that decides close games.
  • Most valuable tile (advanced): the premium tile to protect. Premium tiles want premium squares, and the two-letter words (QI and ZA above all) exist to cash big tiles twice by scoring in two directions at once.
  • Playable from one set (advanced): checks the word against the standard 100-tile distribution (one each of J, K, Q, X and Z, two blanks). A word needing two Zs is only possible with a blank, and three Qs is impossible.
  • Points per tile and the tile table (advanced): the average score per letter and a table of every tile's value and how many are in the bag. Dictionaries differ, Collins for international play being famously permissive against the North American word list, so agree the dictionary before the first tile.
